Biography
I am a civil engineer and water resources specialist from the National University of Colombia. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Water Resources at the University of Iowa. My academic focus is hydrology, hydraulics, and climatology. Currently, I am working on hydrologic uncertainty and flood inundation mapping (FIM). For the first area, hydrologic uncertainty, we evaluate it to obtain probabilistic outcomes, thereby improving decision-making information and risk management. My second area of research is the Height Above Nearest Drainage (HAND) model for FIM. This model is a low-computational-demand method for defining flood extents and depths. Finally, I contribute to the development of the Ensemble Framework for Flash Flood Forecasting (EF5), a distributed hydrologic model for water resource management and early warnings.
