I am an environmental engineer with a Bachelor's degree from the Universidad de Antioquia and a Master’s degree in Meteorological Sciences from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. During my undergraduate and graduate research, I studied climate variability and its influence on precipitation and air temperature across Colombia. This work allowed me to develop experience in analyzing climate variability and atmospheric processes across different spatial and temporal scales. Beyond my academic research, I have professional experience working with meteorological and climate information for operational applications and decision-making. My work has involved interpreting available climate products and weather forecasts and translating this information into actionable information for end users.

Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Iowa. My current research interests focus on precipitation forecasting, particularly the forecasting of extreme precipitation events and their potential application to flash flood forecasting and early warning systems. I am interested in understanding the connections between atmospheric information and hydrologic impacts to support more effective hydrometeorological risk management.
